Lindemans Faro Lambic

Name:  Brouwerij Lindemans - Faro

Style:  Faro
ABV:  4.20%
BeerAdvocate Link:  http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/187/7712

My Rating (1–5):  4.5

Tasting Comments:  Coppery dark amber color with a moderate off-white head that settles to a thin ring. Sour aroma, with an acetic twang and slight barnyard funk, and not much else. The taste is surprisingly sweet given the dry, sour aroma. Flavors of juicy apples and grapes, blending with the sour twang give it a character a lot like a demi-sec champagne. Sourness sticks around long after the sip, clinging to the cheeks, and showing up in a surprise return after a minute or so.

Notes:  This is delicious stuff. I sort of like it in spite of any beer snob tendencies I have...because I like it for the "wrong reasons". It's sweet and sour, and doesn't really taste like beer. I should scoff at that, but instead I just like it a lot. I like it for the same reasons I like Monk's Cafe, but this one is decidedly sweeter.

On a side note, it took 365 beers to get to one that required a corkscrew to open, but it finally happened. Other beers have been corked, but with champagne-style "popper" corks. This one was capped and corked, and made me work to get it open.
