Sam Adams Winter Lager
Name: Boston Beer Company (Samuel Adams) - Samuel Adams Winter Lager
Style: Bock
ABV: 5.60%
BeerAdvocate Link: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/35/101
My Rating (1–5): 3.5
Tasting Comments: Deep, coppery amber with a short white head. The aroma is dark and malty, with molasses, raisin, and spice notes. The taste is similar, with dark malts flavors accented by caramel, toffee, molasses, and mild spice notes. There's just enough bitterness to come in at the finish and save it from being syrupy.
Notes: If BA says it's a bock, I guess it must be. But it's a dark wheat beer with some spice, so it's not really true to the style. It's rich, and malty, and wintery...but without the spice being over the top or the body too heavy. Certainly enjoyable, but nothing too special.
